- Why not to Air Condition Your Garage. If you’re using your garage as a garage, air conditioning is probably not recommended. A garage is hot to begin with and you add heat every time you park your car in it. All the heat from that hot engine goes right into the garage along with the car. Hopefully, the things you store in your garage are not too heat sensitive and if they are, it would be easier to move them inside than try to cool a garage. Plus, garages are not known for their insulation. While some garage doors are insulated, most are not and that’s a big expanse to be heated by the sun and that’s another reason garage doors are hot.
